I was born in the Czech Republic and moved to Australia when I was six. My family moved to escape the communist regime and Australia became my adopted home.

Art has always been a passion of mine. I paint almost exclusively from life because it offers me a greater insight into the effects at light. I believe the art of seeing from ‘real’ life allows me to convey a truthful vision of what lies before me. The honest rendition of my subjects transcends the normal conventions of what we think we see.

I prefer painting portraits and still life’s because they represent me the challenges I wish to explore such as nuances in colour and tone.
